New executive to be elected next year

LOMBARDY WEST – Association calls for residents in Lombardy West and Bramley View to attend the next meeting in which the new executive committee will be elected.

Following a poor turnout in the meeting that was held on 18 October, Lombardy West Bramley View Residents Association is calling for residents to attend the next meeting scheduled for January next year.

The annual general meeting, which was initially postponed twice. went ahead despite the poor turnout.

Police officials, members of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and the crime prevention unit among others attended the meeting.

The residents association liaison officer Moss Selolo said the chairman’s address, which was scheduled for the meeting, was read for members of the public and adopted.

He said the lack of attendance was a major problem. According to him, residents usually do not attend meetings when crime incidents in the suburbs are seldom occurring.

He said despite the recent low crime statistics, residents need to attend these meetings and get involved in the matters that are happening in their community. “We did not have people that should have been elected in the committee,” he said.

Selolo said most people who were at the meeting didn’t stand up for committee positions due to other commitments.

He added that people who have a vast interest in their properties in the suburbs should attend these meetings and avail themselves for the committee positions in the next meeting to be held in January next year. “When there is more participation from the residents, it gets much better.

“We want those who have vast interests in the communities to be elected in the committee.”
