The Roedean Academy is an initiative launched by Roedean School (SA) located in Parktown. The academy, which started in 2009 with 20 girls, now offers 100 girls from a neighbouring school the benefits of additional tuition in maths, English, science, and accounting.
The academy operates daily for Grade 8 to 12 girls. The girls come to Roedean School on various afternoons and are given extra tuition.
The Roedean Academy Prize-Giving took place on 12 October at Roedean School (SA). It was a wonderful occasion, filled with much celebration, as the girls delighted in their own achievements, as well as the achievements of their friends.

The academy director, Sandi McCallum, spoke about the academy and then handed over to the academy girls who spoke about what they had done during the year. The Grade 8 and 9 classes entertained the guests when they performed a variety of choral numbers at the prize-giving. A highlight of the event was the presentation of two bursaries, sponsored by Bidvest Bank to the Top Two Academy matric learners to enable them to study further at university.

Following the prize-giving, the academy girls, teachers, parents, and guests were treated to a sumptuous tea in the beautiful Roedean gardens. It was a very special day and all present left with a sense of fulfilment and achievement.
