Counterfeit goods worth R9 million confiscated in the inner-city

JOBURG CBD – The police have asked the community to cooperate and furnish information about people that are storing and trading in counterfeit goods.

According to a statement released by Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, police arrested a suspect following an operation in the Johannesburg CBD on 16 October targeting the illegal trade in counterfeit goods.

Peters said police together with officials from brand protectors acted on information and pounced on a building in the inner-city where they confiscated counterfeit goods worth an estimated value of R9 million pending final determination by the brand holders.
