Lombardy West Bramley View Residents’ Association invites residents to AGM

BRAMLEY – The AGM will also discuss issues affecting residents including crime.

Lombardy East Bramley View Residents’ Association has invited residents to their annual general meeting (AGM) to elect new office bearers.

The meeting, which has been postponed twice this year, is set to be held at Karabo Crèche situated along Richelieu Street in Bramley on 17 October at 6pm.

According to the liaison officer of the association, Moss Selolo, the meeting will start with the chairman’s address. Residents will be given a report back on the previous term of office bearers, finances of the association will be discussed and elections will be held for new executive members.

“We urge our residents to avail themselves to enable themselves to participate in the association affairs,” Selolo said.

“The AGM was supposed to have been held in March but was postponed because we couldn’t reach a quorum due to lack of attendance. We then decided to move it to September but still couldn’t sit and were forced to move it to 17 October and we hope it will be successful.”

He said that it is important for residents to attend to ensure that this meeting takes place and new executive members are elected into office.

He said among other topics to be discussed include crime, service delivery, property rights, unlawful structures (by-laws) and existing informal businesses trading in their suburbs.

“There is a number of spaza shops popping up around our area and this is a cause for concern. Simultaneously we have people building illegal structures which do not comply with the City of Johannesburg by-laws,” he said.

Local councillor Irene Rugheimer, the police as well as the Metro police, are expected to attend and the meeting.
