Linksfield Primary School Big Walk

LINKSFIELD – It was a hive of activities at the Linksfield Primary School on Saturday 12 October when the school held its annual Big Walk.

Scores of parents, learners and teachers converged at the Linksfield Primary School on Saturday 12 October for a very special adventurous day.

The school held its annual Big Walk with overwhelming entertainment for all to enjoy. A fun family day for the whole family is entirely organised by the teachers.

“We have parents helping us at a few stalls. We have some amazing parents and teachers and without their support, it would not be possible,” said Nadia Beranito.

She added, “The day was filled with lots of fun and adventure. We started by walking through the Linksfield Ridge Nature reserve and then enjoyed a variety of water slides, jumping castles, delicious food and games.”

The entertainment did not stop but continued from stilt walkers to balloon makers, pony rides, magicians and a photo booth as well as Bingo, singers, belly dancers and a fabulous DJ.

The school thanked all the people who attended the Big Walk and helped created memories to be treasured.

Although it is a government school, it is mostly self-funded. All forms of fundraising, including the Big Walk, help to run the day to day aspects of the school.

This includes maintenance, teachers’ salaries, upkeep of grounds and any necessary new developments.

“Every year we have a big walk. We are lucky to have the Linksfield Ridge Nature Reserve right behind us and we are able to walk through the reserve. The children and parents are able to look at the views of the school and have a lovely walk in nature. After they complete the walk we have the fun day.”

This year the school raised the bar high and Berinato organised an amazing day with prizes. Children were spoilt for choice with many rides to choose from including mechanical bull, Velcro wall, giant water slide, giant obstacle course, rollerballs, foam pit, and a rocket.

There were 20 inflatables, games and each game had a prize every time you played.

The school always encourages parents and children to attend, and they usually have decent support. This year given all the fun and entertainment planned for the event, parents and children supported the event.

“The inflatables had to be turned off for the crowds to go home. They were having a blast.”
