Forgood recognised as one of the best employee volunteering programmes

ILLOVO – Forgood was awarded the prize for 'Collaboration and Partnership for Change'.

Dunkeld West-based Forgood was recognised as one of the best employee volunteering programmes at a recent awards ceremony held at the Wanderers Club in Illovo.

The online platform was announced as the winners in the ‘Collaboration and Partnership for Change’ category at the awards alongside KwaZulu-Natal-based Do More Foundation.

Forgood aims to connect people to causes and is an online platform connecting passionate people with needy organisations. It functions as a social enterprise that provides a platform for 16 Employee Volunteering Programmes (EVP) although it is not an EVP itself. Forgood is an enterprise-grade cloud programme that allows companies to create, automate and scale-out a comprehensive EV system.

The platform provides goods donations opportunities, money donation opportunities, pro-active offers for time and goods that are matched to NGOs, time/skills-based volunteering opportunities and more. Forgood has more than 23 000 corporates registered on these platforms and has facilitated more than 27 000 EVP connections between people and causes.

The awards form part of the Beyond Painting Classrooms (BPC) Inspiring Employee Volunteering conference, which is hosted biannually by FirstRand volunteers programme with the support of Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa.

Chief executive officer at FirstRand Limited Alan Pullinger, who officially opened the awards ceremony, said that employee volunteering is for the good of communities and South Africa as a whole, especially during tough times in our country.

Research carried out by Deloitte in 2011 found that employees who frequently participate in their company were twice as likely to be very satisfied with the progression of their career and more likely to rate their corporate culture as positive.

BPC is about inspiring employee volunteerism, with these awards paying tribute to those companies and organisations that are achieving great things by bringing business and community together for the benefit of both.
