St John’s learners perform well at SA Maths Olympiad

HOUGHTON – St John's learners Andy Qu and Jonathan Stagman achieved third place in the senior competition and eighth place in the junior competition respectively.

 


St John’s College congratulates learners Andy Qu and Jonathan Stagman for their awards at the recent South African Mathematics Olympiad gala dinner and prize-giving in Cape Town.

Andy achieved third place in South Africa in the senior competition while Jonathan placed eighth in the junior competition.

Head of marketing and communications Jacqui Deeks said, “These are remarkable achievements considering that over 10 000 students participate in the National Mathematics Olympiad.”

St John’s College was also recognised as the top school in Gauteng for 2019.

Deeks added, “We are excited at the number of boys participating in mathematics competitions and at the growing number who are placing in the top echelons of the competitions.”
