Suspect arrested with scores of illegal merchandises in joint police operation

JEPPE – The suspect has since appeared in court.


Police recently arrested a man for possession of illegal firearms, substances and other expensive assets.

The suspect was arrested in a joint operation between police, the Johannesburg Flying Squad and Metro police from Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg.

According to the spokesperson for the Jeppe Police Station, Captain Richard Munyayi, the 71-year-old suspect is in police custody. “We recovered a number of firearms, five cell phones, 41 fake watches including Rolex, Hablot and Armani as well as fraudulent local and international ID cards [in the suspect’s possession],” Munyayi said.

“He was also in a possession of illegal substances including dagga, drugs and cocaine. He also had about 90 of the R5 Mandela coins, gold dust, IDs and a license machine cutter as well as a type writer.”

Investigations are still ongoing and the suspect has since appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
