St John’s College announces new head of school for 2020

HOUGHTON – Neal Burger was announced as the new head of school for 2020.


St John’s College announced that Neal Burger will be their head of school for 2020.

Neal joined St John’s College in Grade 8 from Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys. He has been an excellent learner and a keen sportsman throughout his college career.

He represented St John’s as captain of the U14A, U15A, U16A and second cricket teams as well as the U14A, U15A, U16A hockey teams, and played for the Blues in the first hockey side. He also represented U14A Gauteng hockey, U16B South Gauteng hockey and U17A Southern Gauteng.

Neal participated in the St John’s International Student Exchange programme during his Grade 10 year, visiting Toowoomba Grammar School in Toowoomba Australia.

Neal said, “I have learnt a number of great life lessons during my time at St John’s College for which I am grateful. I have experienced failure, disappointment and success which has prepared me for my life that lies ahead.

“It is a great privilege to represent everyone that has shown their trust in me. I will lead them unselfishly and make our house, our school and our families proud. We will make 2020 a great and memorable year.”
