Heart of the Lion supports Rainbows and Smiles

PARKTOWN – Heart of the Lion donated R30 000 to Rainbows and Smiles through their fundraiser.

Parktown Boys High School’s Heart of the Lion raised R30 000 for Rainbows and Smiles at a charitable event held at AJs in Weltevreden Park recently.

Rainbows and Smiles is a community-based charitable foundation devoted to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening illnesses and their families and caregivers.

Heart of the Lion is a non-profit organisation assisting in programmes in the communities surrounding the school. Heart of the Lion is managed by Eurika Fourie and Mymoena Watson and chaired by head boy Dean Fin.

Dean said friends of Parktown learner Chad van Es and his parents Kim and Troy motivated participation and organisation on the day.

Chad said, “I am grateful for the opportunity afforded me to be able to contribute in some small way and excited to make a difference to the lives of families affected by cancer.”

A blood drive was also set up, collecting 37 pints of blood, and donations were also given towards food vouchers for families who may have children in the hospital battling with cancer over the Christmas period.

Nadia Lewis of Rainbow and Smiles said, “Thank you so much to the Heart of the Lion gents. You are truly amazing. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. A great big thank you to all the awesome bikers who showed their support today.”
