Auditions for the upcoming ninth season of Tropika Island of Treasure are well under way and this year things are a little bit different. After competing in the Maldives last season, contestants will be jetting off to the Caribbean island of Curaçao and, for the first time ever, auditions are being held entirely online – making it easier for anyone around the country to enter the popular reality show and compete for their share of fame and fortune alongside the celebs.

Social media influencer Nadia Jaftha said she was looking for three key components in her partner, namely positivity, resilience and strength.
“I need a positive person because I’m going for the win and need a team mate that’s going to match my energy to the finish line,” Nadia said. “I need someone resilient who won’t give up on me because I am all about persevering to the end, and I need someone strong both physically and mentally.”

Meanwhile, actor and presenter Siphesihle Vazi said his teammate should be someone confident, reliable and trustworthy.
“I need to be able to rely on my partner. We need to build a level of trust because we need to work together to win challenges on the island. I am also looking for someone who is quick on their feet and they must be able to catch up with me. Someone who has great hand-eye coordination is also essential – because that’s not one of my strengths,” Vazi said.
Finally, musician and actor Bouwer Bosch said he was looking for someone he can have fun with during the challenges on the island while also being able to clinch wins.

“It’s not all about winning the whole time,” Bouwer said. “But, when your attitude is right, the rest will fall into place. I want to enjoy myself on the island with someone who also has the gift of endurance as well as mental strength. I need someone on my team who won’t buckle under pressure – because if you’ve seen Tropika Island of Treasure before, there’s going to be a whole lot of pressure during challenges!”
