Saxonwold Primary hosts Big Walk
SAXONWOLD – Parents and children were delighted to partake in their school's big walk while viewing some interesting places in the suburb.

A suburb located within a few places of interest gave residents a chance to explore the neighbourhood through a 10km walk.
The Saxonwold Primary School Big Walk was an opportunity for parents and learners at the school to enjoy walking around the beautiful neighbourhood in the name of education.

By attending the event, parents showed support and commitment to the school’s educational goals set for the children as well as creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

Emcee Ntombi Phiri of the SABC said, “It takes a village to raise a child and more so a healthy village, so we will walk to keep healthy while we instil the value of education in the children we raise.”

Event co-emcee, Khanyisile Manyoni of Radio 2000 said the event was not just for the school but for everyone who valued education. Manyoni briefed the attendees on the programme line-up and assured everyone they would be given maps in case they got lost.
The walk commenced with participants getting to see the former residence of the Guptas, Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund headquarters, CHOC Foundation as well as the Museum of Military History.

Back at the school premises were vendor stalls, entertainment and a fun circle for the children. Prize giveaways and lucky draws were also part of the activities with a variety of sponsors contributing.
