The most-loved lifestyle hotspot in Bramley

Tubbs’s Car Wash is the most-loved local lifestyle place where people can get a haircut, socialise or eat while their car is being washed in Bramley.

This was recently revealed by a research campaign commissioned by Santam and done by World Wide Worx.

The research sought to establish a vital role played by small businesses. The survey tried to seek exactly what makes consumers big fans of the local enterprises they love. Santam said on its website that Tubbs’s is so much more than a car wash, “At Tubbs’s Car Wash, you can dig into freshly grilled meats, get a haircut and enjoy live and local music. Oh yes, and you can get your cash washed, of course!

“In fact, some of Jozi’s finest wheels are known to pop in here for a soak and polish as crowds of admirers look on. Tubbs’s brings back the true experience of the old-school car wash, where people come first and petrol comes second.”

Local residents cited various reasons including the fact that you can get your hair cut, get a bit to eat and socialise while you’re getting your car washed.

With a strong following on social media, the owner of the car wash, Tlotliso ‘Tubbs’ Notrem said he is the most popular person known in various sectors of business and entertainment.

He added that they occasional host events and invite celebrities and DJs to play music. “This is a lifestyle center where you can do a lot of things at the same time. That’s what gives us longevity.”

Notrem, who hails from North West, recalled that he had always been an entrepreneur, a skill he honed when he was still very young.

When he completed school, he joined the family business of carpet cleaning. “I never thought that I will go another way. I am too used to manage my time when I was only 16 years old.”

This entrepreneur said his establishment is different from other establishments and they always welcome their clients and make them feel more accommodated.

Tubbs has always been passionate about cars. “I’ve always been a people person and when the opportunity to work in the cars industry presented itself, I said to myself why not take it.”

He said he tries to entertain people and offer a good service. “It is a hangout place where you can relax.”

His establishment is said to be what car washes used to be back in the day. Local residents can hang out, connect, catch up and kickback.

He said the award came as a shock. “It’s a good feeling, I really appreciate the fact that people show love and we show them love back.”
