Kasi footballers stand a chance to join the Red Bull Salzburg Football Academy

JOBURG – Red Bull Kasi Cup tournament announced for 28 September in celebration of township football talent.

Red Bull Kasi Cup has come to the fore in celebration of township football talent. The tournament will give talented footballers an extraordinary opportunity to showcase their natural ability and skills with a possibility of being scouted to attend trials with the Red Bull Salzburg Football Academy.

Red Bull Kasi Cup, which takes place on 28 September at Dorothy Nyembe Park in Soweto, will see four of Gauteng’s top township football teams go head to head. The teams emerged champions of their respective local kasi tournaments earlier in the year.

The top participating teams are: Zak Park FC (Soweto), Jan Malambo 11 (Mamelodi), Gibos River Park FC (Soweto) and Snack FC (Thokoza).

“As players we are always looking for opportunities to showcase our talent and I am excited to be part of this tournament. As a product of kasi football, I am honoured to champion the Red Bull Kasi Cup because platforms like these enable us to continue showcasing new talent,” said Red Bull Kasi Cup ambassador and South African professional football midfielder, Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Red Bull Kasi Cup is proudly partnered with Puma as the technical sponsor for all participating teams. The brand will supply kit to all the players taking part in the tournament.

“We have always been a supporter of football development and talent. As a leading sports apparel, this partnership with Red Bull will ensure that we assist these aspiring footballers to proudly showcase their skills and reach their dreams. We are hopeful that by embarking on this journey with Red Bull Kasi Cup, we will unearth the next football stars such as Tshabalala,” said Tshepo Mashishi, regional marketing manager at Puma South Africa.
