Parktown Girls test their knowledge of current affairs

PARKVIEW – A team of Grade 11 learners took part in the Star High School Quiz Challenge.

Grade 11 learners at Parktown High School for Girls took part in the Star High School Quiz Challenge, demonstrating their knowledge of current affairs.

A team of four learners, including Joanne Ciolkosz, Ammaarah Badsha, Midiha Acoob and Sonia Maharaj, took part.

Eighteen teams from different schools in the district took part. Participants had to study views in five categories for 10 days. Anything from any of the newspapers could be asked. This meant that the team needed to read all articles found within the newspapers. This took a lot of time and effort.

Unfortunately, they did not qualify for the next round but the school was very proud of their achievement.

Head of marketing and communications at Parktown High School for Girls Kerry Liss said, “Undertaking a time-consuming challenge like this in the midst of all the other extra murals they are involved in just proves again that our girls are all-rounders – a trait that is typical Parktown and something that will stand them in good stead in years to come. All in all, this was a fun experience and they were able to learn a lot from it.”
