Hyde Park High School’s athletic star on the rise

HYDE PARK – Hyde Park High School athlete Lehlohonolo Ramogale dominated the Prestige Athletics Meeting against 20 schools.

Hyde Park High School’s star athlete Lehlohonolo Ramogale raced through the pack to take a podium finish at the Prestige Athletics meeting at Boksburg Stadium on 21 August this year.

The meeting hosted athletes from 20 different schools for a number of events. Lehlohonolo placed 1st in the 1 500m and 2nd in the 800m in the boys’ U17 races.

“This year has been a great year for my running career. I have worked hard by training every day which has included a lot of hill and stairs drills to increase my stamina and stride,” Lehlohonolo said.

He also took 2nd overall at the event in the boys’ middle-distance senior division.

“I was elected the school’s athletics captain this year and decided it is time for me to be an example for the team – to push hard and never give up.”

With the full support from his father, the youngster is determined to drive his athletic career. “My father has motivated me with an eating plan and sprint programme and has also guided me with my sprint running which has improved my 800m event,” he said.

“I am honoured to represent Hyde Park High School and I look forward to the opportunity to do so again next year when I will be in matric.”
