JOBURG – Multi-award-winning musician Samthing Soweto has become the first local artist to have simultaneous number-one releases on both the Apple Music Singles and Album Charts in South Africa.
Multi-award-winning musician Samthing Soweto has become the first local artist to have simultaneous number-one releases on both the Apple Music Singles and Album Charts in South Africa with a Pre-Add release. His latest single Akulaleki, featuring Shasha, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, is currently topping the singles chart with his forthcoming album topping the Album chart. DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small’s single, Amantombazane, which also features the vocals of Samthing Soweto is at number two on the Apple Music Singles chart.
Samthing Soweto’s album entitled Isphithiphithi is set to officially release on 20 September. The album sees him working with top SA producers DJ Maphorisa, Kabza Da Small and Thabo Ngubane, and includes some amazing features and co-writes with the likes of Sha Sha, Ali Keys, Mduduzi Mathebula, Mduduzi Memela, and Bongkhosi Zondo. This eclectic and well-curated album is a much-anticipated stand-out moment for Samthing Soweto to truly showcase his grandeur not just as a vocalist, but as a truly skilled writer and producer in his own right.
