Take note of these road closures as a result of Jazz on the Lake on 1 September

Community members are advised to be aware of road closures taking place on 1 September as a result of the Jazz on the Lake event in Parkview.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said, “The usual road closures will take place from 6am to 7pm along Oxford, Bolton, Chester and Emmarentia roads. Jan Smuts Avenue will also be closed from Loch/Sherborne avenues in Parktown to the Bolton/Chester roads intersection in Rosebank. The zoo and military museum will be closed for the day.”

The event hotline (083 666 1636) will be turned on from 6.30am on 1 September, which community members are advised to contact should any concerns arise on the day.

Community members who require resident’s passes should contact their residents associations. Note that suburbs including Parkhurst, Parktown North, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Lower Houghton and Killarney will not be directly affected by the event and do not need passes.

There will be free buses from Killarney Mall, Marks Park and Metro Centre in Braamfontein to the event on the day. The last bus will leave at 1pm. Community members can also catch taxis and arrange to be dropped off on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Lower Park Drive. Locals can also walk or cycle in from the nearest road closure.
