Glamorgan Road gets two new speed bumps

PARKWOOD – A petition that was put forward to the City five years ago requesting traffic- calming measures was finally signed off by the ward councillor.

After five years, Parkwood residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief after their petition requirements were fulfilled. In 2014 the residents in Glamorgan Road, Parkwood, made a petition requesting the City of Johannesburg to instal traffic-calming measures in their street.

According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck, “The bumps were approved, but the petition, like 3 000 others on the City, were put on a waiting list and never acted on. Last year, a decision was made to start working on this backlog and R23 million was allocated to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to start installing the approved traffic-calming measures within the City.”

He added that this financial year, another R20 million has been allocated for traffic-calming projects throughout Johannesburg. Truluck and JRA Region B manager Andrew Bodibe inspected the two new speed bumps in Glamorgan Road and Truluck signed off the petition.
