Teddy project needs volunteers

REMBRANDT PARK – Ron Smith Care Centre needs volunteers for the teddy project to help people living with dementia.

A project that was initiated by Rand Aid Social Worker Ulricka Beukman is looking for volunteers who would assist with knitting a teddy or donate wool.

This is a project set to help people who are living with dementia.

Tarentaal Retirement Village resident Yvonne Butts is knitting teddies for the people living with dementia at nearby Ron Smith Care Centre.

Both the village and care centre are run by the 116-year-old NPO, Rand Aid.

Butts has already completed seven beautiful teddies and hopes to extend the project to her neighbours, residents of other Rand Aid retirement villages and to the community at large.

If you would like to knit a teddy or donate wool, you need to call Tarentaal office.

Details: Tarentaal Retirement Village 011 882 2510.
