Take note of these road closures for Old Eds Road Race this weekend

HOUGHTON – The 40th annual Old Eds road race will take place on 12 August, multiple roads around Houghton and surrounding areas will be closed for the race.


The 40th annual Old Eds Road Race race is sold out with thousands of runners expected to take part on 11 August starting at the corner of 11th Avenue and 4th Street, Lower Houghton. 

In partnership with Morningside Country Club, Road Runner and Discovery Vitality Series, the race  for 21km and 10km will start at 7.30am and the 5km at 7.45am.

Areas that will experience disruptions and road closures are Houghton Estate, Oaklands, Orchards, Killarney Gardens, Birdhaven, Athol, Abbotsford and Melrose North. Organisers said motorists should avoid Riviera Road and off-ramp from the M1, 11th Avenue, Glenhove.
