Suspect walks right into handcuffs at police station

PARKVIEW – On his way to claim his towed silver Audi A6, a suspect got arrested due to the motor vehicle being linked to a crime.

A business robbery suspect was arrested at the Parkview Police Station when he went to claim his towed motor vehicle at the station. According to Parkview spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the towed vehicle had been used to commission the crime in Emmarentia.

“The victim of the crime alleged that he was outside the shop with a customer when the suspect informed them to cooperate as it was a robbery. The suspect told the victims that they must not do anything that could lead them into trouble and he had a firearm in his hand.”

The suspect ordered them to go inside the shop. The victims were robbed of their cellphones, laptop, cash, jewellery and cameras. Sibeko said no one was injured during the robbery.

“A Parkview police officer used his iPhone to trace the cellphones that were taken during the robbery. A silver Audi A6 was found at Johannesburg Central, on Bree Street, parked without the occupants and the cellphones were still inside the car. The motor vehicle was towed to Parkview SAPS and taken to Aeroton motor vehicle safeguard,” Sibeko said.

Two days later the suspect went to Parkview Police Station to claim his motor vehicle back, but he was arrested. The suspect appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to answer on charges of business robbery. The police urge the community to come forward if they have been robbed by a person or people driving a silver Audi A6.
