Maskandi legend returns after two-year hiatus

JOBURG – Ihhashi Elimhlophe interrupts two-year break with new album.

Following a two-year hiatus, maskandi legend, Ihhashi Elimhlophe, has returned with a new 16-track album, Ama Waza Waza.

“Things come and go but who and what you are, does not change. You do move with the times but you don’t forget where you come from,” Ihhashi said.

As a seasoned artist in music, Ihhashi counsels with lyrical content whose messages range from calling for an end to women and child abuse to encouraging sustenance of good, loving relations through respect and care. He calls for the continuation of the great times that were the order of the day right at the beginning of a love relationship. He is also not shying away from socio-political matters that plague society.

The album caters to both the young and old Maskandi lovers building a bridge between different generations of music consumers. With rapid changes in the music industry over the last few years, Ihhashi Elimhlophe has opted not to release albums year-after-year as it has been the case for the most part of his career.

“I produce music that is timeless. So, to release every year denies my fans an opportunity to really enjoy, properly explore and immerse themselves in the music I would have released earlier,” he said.
