Johannesburg police nab 12 suspects in one week

JOHANNESBURG – Members of the public are encouraged to continue working with the police.


The Johannesburg Flying Squad police arrested 12 suspects in various parts of the city over the last weekend facing serious crimes.

The suspects were arrested between 19 and 22 July during their routine patrols and recovered three cars which were reported stolen.

According to the spokesperson for the squad, senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo, all the suspects are in police custody.

He said amongst them, one was held for housebreaking, one for common robbery and two others for shoplifting.

“We also have one facing a charge of possession of a stolen property, one for drunken driving, two others for possession of a stolen vehicle and four for drugs possession,” he said.

“The vehicles recovered include two Toyota Corollas and a Ford Ranger. Investigations still continues in all cases.”

Members of the public are encouraged to continue working with the police and report crime and any suspicious persons and activities.

All the suspects, aged between 28 and 45, are expected to appear soon in different magistrates’ courts.
