Police arrest suspects with SANDF uniforms and unlicensed firearms

JOHANNESBURG – Police recovered South African National Defence Force uniforms and unlicensed firearms.

The Metro police have arrested five suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm and South African National Defence Force uniforms in the inner-city.

The police were conducting a stop and search when they stopped a silver Audi A3. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered the firearm and uniforms.

“We arrested five suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms and five pair of SANDF uniforms. There will be an investigation to establish why those people have military uniforms. It will be investigated if they wanted to commit a crime [wearing] the military uniforms,” said Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.

“We will also investigate to see if they are already linked to any crime. The suspects are currently detained at Johannesburg Central.”
