DJ Lag and Petite Noir join Barcelona’s SonarDôme line-up

JOBURG – DJ Lag and Petite Noir to bring their exciting acts onto SonarDôme stage.

The long-running partnership between Sónar and Red Bull enters its 15th year. From 18 – 20 July to, SonarDôme is set to play host to fresh sounds and styles from around the globe, with up-and-coming artists sharing the stage with pioneers.

From festivals to studio sessions, Red Bull has been celebrating music, its culture and the transformative minds behind it for more than 20 years. Its annual stage at Sónar shines a light on friends and alumni of the Red Bull Music Academy, its world-traveling workshop and lecture series. From spare, hypnotic post-punk to experimental sonics from Mexico City, Detroit house to broken beats out of Durban, this year’s line-up represents the inventiveness and wide range of influences powering music today.

Topping the lineup is Theo Parrish, one of the most legendary figures in the American house scene, with a three-hour set. Dellafuente will perform his live show that propels Latin rhythms, trap, autotune and Flamenco to new heights. Following a recent Berlin debut, Iranian Avant-pop artist and Red Bull Music Academy alumna Sevdaliza will present her new show, The Great Hope Design, combining sultry, pared-back electronic soundscapes and choreography for an alternative, heart-led reality.

In Lorenzo Senni, the experimental electronic music scene finds its biggest ally with the premiere of Stargate, a multi-player live show described as an experience between the Tetris effect before sleep and trance music in slow motion. Petite Noir will present La Maison Noir: The Gift and the Course, the ambitious visual album that has made him one of the most exciting new African artists. DJ Lag, among gqom’s biggest stars, will bring with his frenetic beats, while 700 Bliss, the noise rap collaborative project born in Philadelphia, will strike hard on stage. The duo unites DJ Haram and Moor Mother, afro-futurist producer, poet and social activist.

At SonarDôme, the all-star cast will be joined by some of the most exciting new voices in music: participants of the 20th anniversary edition of the Red Bull Music Academy, which took place in Berlin in 2018. German producer, Perel will unleash her synthesizers; Ylia, emergent figure on Barcelona’s electronic scene, will bet on techno, breakdance and electro with her new live show. Nistra will craft stimulating soundscapes that induce dance and Shelly returns to Sónar with a bass-music set, following an appearance when he was only 16 years old.

The Academy alumni line-up will be completed with the wild catharsis of Mexico City’s Camille Mandoki, the yin and yang of Anger, the analogue and digital fusion of Anna Vs June, the industrial textures of FAKETHIAS, the futuristic contemplation of Yakamoto Kotzuga, the post-punk mantras of Sneaks, the unpredictable abstractions of András, the dazzling pop insight of vōx, the hardness and delicacy of Katarzia, the organic fluidity of J Colleran and the techno-adjacent ambience of Milan W.

Finally, two Spanish speaking proposals. The prolific Spanish producer Dano, true to himself and his unadulterated rap, will perform his recently released new album ‘Istmo,’ and LAO and Wasted Fates of Mexican collective N.A.A.F.I. will deliver a defiant mix of Latin percussion and high-powered bass, spiced with reggaeton and baile funk.

As in previous years, Red Bull Radio will record and broadcast select performances from the SonarDôme stage.

The 26th edition of Sónar will present live performances by global artists such as A$AP Rocky, Skepta, Bad Bunny, Bad Gyal, Four Tet, Arca, Vince Staples, Kaytranada, Holly Herndon, DJ Koze, Snakehips, Floating Points or Paul Kalkbrenner, among many others.
