Bring your Christmas cheer to this week’s Zoo Trot

SAXONWOLD – Join the Zoo Trot on 14 July and run for a cause.

Young and old are encouraged to run and give the gift of knowledge at the Christmas in July Zoo Trot event at the Johannesburg Zoo on 14 July.

Locals are encouraged to participate in the morning filled with energy and the spirit of giving by running or walking around the zoo and bringing along a gift for a child in need.

This year’s beneficiary is The Rock of Five-One Day Care centre in Midrand. The humble but dilapidated centre caters for 52 senior citizens and 45 children between six months and five years old.

Media relations assistant at Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo Noeleen Mattera said,

“The chosen theme [Christmas in July] embodies the act of giving. There is a global call for reaching out to others in kindness, caring and touching the lives of the less fortunate this International Mandela Day.

“Runners are requested to kindly extend their hand in donating kiddies books, toys, colouring books and crayons,” added Mattera.
