Bramley police welcome sentencing of ‘rapist’ prophet by Alexandra Court

BRAMLEY – The pastor lied about the girl having 'something in her stomach' and promised to remove it but instead raped her.

Bramley police have welcomed the life sentence of a 22-year-old pastor for raping a minor.

According to Captain Molefe Mogodi, the spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, the accused was convicted by the Alexandra Regional Magistrate’s Court on 13 June for an incident that happened in May last year.

Mogodi said the court heard that the pastor had arranged with the victim’s parents to assist her and to ‘remove something in her stomach’. Along with other people, the pastor took the victim to the river where the cleansing was to be performed.

“She was ordered to undress and he raped her. She informed her parents who then reported the matter to the police.”

The case was assigned to a detective for investigation who managed to trace the pastor and arrested him in Tembisa with the help of the victim’s parents.

Mogodi added that in addition to life imprisonment, the Alexandra Regional Magistrate’s Court also ordered that his name be entered in the National Register for Sexual Offences. “He was also found unsuitable to work with children and unfit to possess a firearm.”
