Doornfontein lift victim plans to take legal action for compensation

DOORNFONTEIN – The incident which happened on 23 June, left one woman dead, according to media reports the second person is looking at his options for compensation after suffering several injuries.


According to a News24 report, Zwelethu Mambane, the man who was injured in a fatal lift incident in a central Johannesburg building, said he is planning to take the legal route for compensation.

North Eastern Tribune reported that a woman was killed after the lift in a Doornfontein building they were travelling in suddenly failed, it then rapidly ascended up to the 26th floor, the woman suffered head injuries during the incident and succumbed to her injuries.

Mambane, who suffered several injuries during the ordeal, said to News24 he has not been able to meet with clients and has to cancel meetings, unable to run his business.

He said this is the reason he will be consulting with his lawyers on his options for compensation.
