28 June: Rafiki screenings

On 28 June, The Bioscope is set to host a special screening of the anticipated Rafiki ahead of its official release in late June. Directed by Wanuri Kahiu, the film is the first Kenyan project to be invited to Cannes Film Festival 2018 as part of the official Un Certain Regard selection.

29 June: Basha Uhuru Freedom Fest

The Basha Uhuru Freedom Fest returns to Constitution Hill in celebration of 25 years of democracy! Commemorating the youth of 1976 through an engaging arts and culture festival, this year’s events take place from 27–29 June. From creative workshops to visual art and music plus craft and more. Now in its seventh year, it is a multifaceted urban culture festival aimed at providing a platform for creative expression, youth culture and critical dialogue.

29 June Inner City Farmer’s Market at Victoria Yards

The second Inner-City Farmer’s Market, taking place on 29 June, is all about local produce and other delicious goodies from the neighbourhood and beyond. Experience Victoria Yards as they get ready for spring. All the studios and eateries will be open.

30 June: Soul Sundowners

Join Taurus on a musical journey from African Jazz to R&B. Taurus will be joined by South African R&B legend Marc Rantseli for nice and easy Sunday afternoon at the Immigrant Bar in Braamfontein.  All of this is set against the backdrop of the beautiful Braamfontein sunset, in an intimate living room type venue.

30 June: Live Literature Market

Come listen to authors of an amazing selection of books that will be on sale this Sunday at the Live Literature Market. Bring a friend, come hang out with some of your favourite writers while jazz band Big Five Namaqhawe do their thing on stage.
