Highlands North Boys’ School drums up support ahead of their 80th birthday

Highlands North Boys' School drums up support ahead of their 80th birthday.

Highlands North Boys’ High School still continues to invite old folks to partner with their school and plan their upcoming 80th birthday celebration soon.

According to the school governing body (SGB) chairperson, Chris Bosielo, the school plans to celebrate its historic milestone on 31 August.

Bosielo said the school invites all former learners, teachers and principals to be part of the planning committee, as reported in the North Eastern Tribune article Plea for 80th milestone [Week ending 21 June], because they need everyone’s ideas to help mark this occasion significantly.

“The main objective is to formulate a committee which will lead the fundraising of the celebration and to also network with some old boys who have relocated to overseas and in other neighbouring countries,” said Bosielo.

“We also urge companies which are willing to contribute towards the refurbishment of the school as well as sponsorships for some of our learners who are performing well academically.”

The chairperson said their infrastructure is starting to show signs of deterioration with some classes falling apart. “We plead with companies, even individuals, to assist us and make some kind of contribution or donation so that we can be able to renovate our school.

“We have meetings weekly on Saturdays at the school to plan ahead of the birthday celebrations and part of the agenda is to mobilise support in terms of donations.”
