St Teresa’s play their role for youth month
ROSEBANK – The St Teresa's community took a trip down memory lane on youth month and the girls learnt a lot about the youth's rich history.
For Youth Month, St Teresa’s School in Rosebank took time to celebrate the 20 000 pupils from Soweto who had the courage to change a country during the June 16 uprising in 1976.
The school’s Youth Day celebrations started off with Father Thabo conducting mass for grades 2 to 12 in the Rosebank Parish. The school members were then entertained by the songs, dances and poems of the girls from all three phases of the school.
Two alumni members who studied at St Teresa’s in the 1980s spoke to the girls about the part that the Sisters of Mercy played in educating children of all races.
The day finished off with the high school learning the original school song that was sung during these years.
