Drought Breaker: a tale of tribes – a Kingsmead Grade 7 production

The script, Drought Breaker, is based on an African folk tale tradition and explores elements of the ancient Greek choral verse and medieval mystery plays. It is a truly original piece that showcases the talents and hard work of the school’s Grade 7s. Every aspect of this theatre production is managed by the learners, from make-up and costumes to back-stage and marketing.

Suits and Sneakers presents: FOREsight book launch with John Sanei

John Sanei has always been a fan favourite and at the launch of his latest book, FOREsight, John will discuss and explain the types of sight needed to connect the invisible dots that lead us into our abundant tomorrow.

Adrian Hayes: One Man’s Climb – a journey of Trauma, Tragedy and Triumph on K2

British record-breaking adventurer, author, speaker and leadership coach, Adrian Hayes, details the deeply moving story of the beauty and brutality of life, and death, on the world’s notorious second highest mountain. In this visually stunning presentation, Hayes details his intensely personal account of his attempts to climb K2 in 2013 and again in 2014, and the story behind his newly released book, One Man’s Climb: A Journey of Trauma, Tragedy and Triumph on K2 – a book which is as much a lesson in human development, real teamwork, social conscience and our lives in the world below, as it is a story of climbing the ‘savage mountain’. Foreword by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

Books will be on sale at the event and the author will hold a book signing after the presentation.

The Ridge School Old Buys Centenary Dinner

The Centenary Old Boys reunion event is fast approaching so ensure you book your ticket before the event sells out. For those who would like a tour of the school before the event, please book this at the same time as your ticket. A cash bar will be available. Regrettably Old Boys only due to a limited setting.

When: the tour will start at 5.15 pm and the event will start at 6pm.

Movies under the stars

Two movies will be shown in this fun-filled night to remember. Tickets include entrance for both films. No ticket, no entrance into the venue.

All ages are welcome and food, popcorn, sweets and drinks will be on sale at the venue. No food or drinks will be allowed into the venue and no alcohol will be allowed on the premises. Picnic blankets and chairs will be allowed. Patrons with chairs will be asked to sit towards the back of the field so as not to obscure the view of the screen for other patrons. No refunds on tickets.

The venue will open at 4pm, the first movie (family movie) will start at 6pm, the second movie (PG10) will start at 8pm and the venue will close at 10.30pm.

Parkview Junior School Spring Garden Day

The Garden Fun Day is a wholesome, fun-filled family day offering loads of activities to entertain the whole family. There will be a selection of hand-craft vendor stalls to browse through, while the little ones are kept busy with crafts, activities and rides. There will also be a variety of plants for sale, including seedlings, indigenous and rare plants, all at competitive prices. In between shopping and all the fun, grab a bite to eat from the Gourmet Garden or stop for a pot of tea at the Tea Garden. Don’t forget the much-anticipated Spring Hat Competition which promises fun prizes for children of all ages. There will be a vast range of great artists to keep you entertained throughout the day.
