Youth Month is well under way and we’ve been blessed with a long weekend this time around. The most responsible thing to do is sit back, relax and prepare for the upcoming week, however, that’s boring! Let’s go out and join in the youth day celebrations and spoil our fathers in between the long weekend’s chaos.

14 June: Vogue Nights Jozi

This time around, Vogue Nights Jozi is set to bring Lasseindra Ninja and DJ Monique, both from the House of Ninja in Paris, to participate in the inclusive and intersectional nightlife project. On the bill for Vogue Nights Jozi is queer polymath and founder, Lelowhatsgood, as well as residents A Very Cool Time & Dormant Youth, with Nodiggity, Lotion, and MC Tutu Zondo holding it down at The Third Place in Newtown.

15 June: Tablist

Join Tha Cutt & Spindle for the fourth instalment of Tablist, showcasing performance deejaying and a night of partying and rocking through a soundscape of traditional hip-hop. Check out mixmasters, DJ Melitia, C-Live, Slewdada and more at Kitcheners.

15 June: AFDA Experimental Festival

The annual AFDA Experimental Festival promises to be an eye-popping and mind-boggling experience across four of AFDA’s campuses. The students explore experimental concepts and present their outcomes from their own course which ultimately embodies the scope of the future of the creative economy. Business Innovation and Technology students, will give presentations of and launch their cutting edge, on the money business concepts while AFDA film and television third-year students will be screening over 60 experimental films and TVv documentaries. Live performance students will stage over 30 theatre plays and live music performance

16 June: Warming up Father’s Day at Calexico Vinyl Lounge and Restaurant

16 June: Joburg Half Day Cycle Tour
