UJ students seek cover up for mischievous acts

DOORNFONTEIN – We are turning them away when they visit the client service centre, says spokesperson for the Jeppe police.

University of Johannesburg’s students at the Doornfontein campus are urged to seek other options, not police intervention.

This is according to Jeppe police acting on the latest concerning trend of students bunking classes and then visiting the station to request affidavits to allegedly cover up for their mischievous actions.

Spokesperson for the Jeppe police Captain Richard Munyayi said, “Many students have come to the police station and asked the officers to write those affidavits to take them to school, which the police cannot do, as it is not our mandate to do such a thing. If a student has not been attending classes and was sick, they should produce a medical certificate to the school management.”

Munyayi said they can also ask their parents or guardians to visit the school to explain their absence, without involving the police.

“We are turning them away when they visit the client service centre,” he said
