Community tip-off leads to arrest of housebreaker in Bramley

KEW – Another suspect was also arrested for similar crime in Marlboro.

A housebreaking suspect was arrested on 6 June by the Bramley police following a tip-off from the community.

According to the Bramley Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi, the suspect was arrested in Kew.

Mogodi report that a sector commander was patrolling in the area when he received a call from a resident who informed him about a man who was seen carrying goods walking fast down the road.

He quickly drove to the place where the suspect was, Mogodi said.

“On arrival, the commander found a man who is unknown in the area, carrying a ladder and some silver pots,” Mogodi explain.

“The police questioned him about such possession but he could not give any reasonable explanation. Instead, he became aggressive until he was taken to the police station where further interrogation was conducted. It became clear to the police that he had stolen the goods.”

He was then arrested and detained at Bramley Police Station.

In a separate incident, the detectives attached to Bramley Police Station arrested another man for alleged house robbery in Marlboro.

“It is alleged that two men forced their way into the house in Marlboro where they threatened the victim with a knife.

“The crime was allegedly committed during the month of May…and they got away with valuable items,” said Mogodi.

He said the detective assigned to the case pursued the investigation until he managed to arrest one of them on 6 June.

They are still searching for the other remaining suspect, he said.

“We applaud our detectives for taking care of our community and it is through the investigation by the detectives and information supplied by the community that we are able to make a breakthrough in most of the reported cases,” said Mogodi.
