Local school extends invite to former academics ahead of anniversary

HIGHLANDS NORTH – The school also aims to rally support to revamp the facilities.

Highlands North Boys’ High School management is inviting all its former academics to a planning meeting ahead of their 80th-anniversary celebration on 31 August.

On 8 June, the school held their first ever meeting and invited former learners to come through and discuss the plans for celebrating this milestone, however, only a few came through.

According to School Governing Body chairperson Chris Bosielo, another meeting is planned for 29 June and now they are extending the invitation to include former principals and teachers.

“This is to enable all these people to come through and share ideas on how best to celebrate this historic moment of our school,” said Bosielo.

“The meeting will also serve as a platform to rally support from them and other sectors of society to help us restore the school and give it a facelift.”

According to Bosielo, the school requires funding to renovate the facilities, especially the classrooms, which are deteriorating.

He said the roofs are falling apart because of the leaks when it rains and some parts of the school also need new painting.

“So, it is important for all people who were and still are part of the school to come through and assist us.

“We also call on the local and neighbouring businesses to also extend their helping hands to support the school in our quest to restore it to its glory, both academically and environmentally,” he said.
