Police and teddy bears

PARKVIEW – Building trust and making young ones comfortable was at the core of the Parkview police's visit to a nursery school for Child Protection Week.

The Parkview Police Station social crime prevention unit together with the police’s corporate communication unit visited Teddy Bears Montessori in Emmarentia on 6 June.

The visit was part of the Child Protection Week programme.

Police spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said Constable Xongani Mathye shared safety tips with the children and told them about the police emergency number (10111).

“The children had a chance to listen to the police siren and to sit in the police car in order to build trust and to ensure that the police are there to protect them at all times, and to remove fear so that children can be able to communicate with the police,” Sibeko said.

Child Protection Week aims to raise awareness on the rights of children. The campaign is observed under the theme, Let us protect all children to move South Africa forward.
