A Grade 11 learner from St Mary’s School, Waverley made history when she was the first female to be awarded the Best Clown Award at the prestigious Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts awards ceremony on 25 May at the Lesedi Theatre at the Joburg Theatre complex.
Mikateko Phaleng won the award for her performance as Betty 3 in Raging Beauties. This was the 14th year of the festival which boasts attendance by the very best high school drama departments Johannesburg has to offer.
