Young man killed after collision with tree in Melrose
MELROSE – The driver of the light motor vehicle is believed to have lost control of the car resulting in him crashing into a tree.
Netcare 911 responded to a serious collision on Oxford Road close to Rosebank Mall in Melrose in the afternoon of 2 June.
Parademics arrived on the scene to find a 17-year-old male passenger with serious injuries and he was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, believed to be his early twenties, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital to receive further treatment.
The accident is believed to have occurred after the driver lost control of his vehicle and then crashed into a tree.
Authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigations.
