Bramley’s dedicated top cop praised by residents

BRAMLEY – "He is available for the community at any time when he is needed".

On 21 May, Captain Eric Mathe of Bramley Police Station thought it would be just another day at work, but to his surprise, residents arrived singing, and showered Mathe with gifts in celebration of his 39th birthday.

Community cop, as he is affectionately known in the community, Mathe is a Sector 2 commander and he is also one of the dedicated officers in the station.

“He is available to the community at any time when he is needed,” spokesperson for the station Captain Molefe Mogodi said.

“His work, apart from crime prevention, includes identifying crime generators and creating plans to deal with those generators. He also coordinates integrated operations, arranges community meetings and visits crime hotspots. These are a few of his responsibilities, among the many others which he carries.”

The sector area is made up of Savoy, Kew, Bramley, Raumarais Park and Gresswold, and Mogodi said Mathe’s work in those areas is outstanding and the station really appreciates what he is doing.

Mogodi said that they also appreciate the engagement of the community of Sector 2 as it boosts the morale of its members. He urges the community to attend Sector 2 meetings in huge numbers, as it is another platform to exchange crime information and to receive tip-offs.

Details: Sector 2 contact numbers: 071 675 6120/21.
