Kid Fonque moves to a different beat as debut album hits the shelves

Kid Fonque is famously known for his deep, soulful house and electronic sounds, however, the DJ and producer took a different path with his latest release, I Move to a Different Beat.

Officially released on 17 May, the project is Kid Fonque’s debut album and sees him translate his taste in music into a coherent 12-track album that features the limes of Ziyon, Jonny Miller and more talented artists.

“Kid put his all into this project. He brought out the best in all of us,” Ziyon said.

As a host on 5FM’s Selective Styles radio show, where he showcases music he loves every Sunday, giving artists that deserve wider recognition a national platform, it is no surprise that the album fuses broken beats, bossa nova, hip-hop and house sounds and makes it hard to box it into any genre – the versatility of the album is captured in the into song, Undefined.

 “I think right now we need to get to a place where we are undefined, where music is just music and it’s not even about the genre…but just about the feeling and just creating what feels good to you,” said Ziyon.

So far, the album has received positive reviews, not only from fans and music lovers but also industry giants such as Vinny Da Vinci, Christos, Julian Gomes and more who gave the project a thumbs ups.
