Suspects nabbed for common robbery after quick response from Metro police’s reaction unit

MARSHALLTOWN – The complainant identified his robbers on the spot, as the suspect was arrested for allegedly stealing a wedding ring and cell phone.


Acting head of Public Safety David Tembe received information of a smash-and-grab that occurred on the corner of Kruis and Main streets in Marshalltown, Johannesburg on 20 May and quickly responded by calling the Metro police’s reaction unit commander. 

He sent the information to the reaction unit who were assisted by undercover officers, met with the complainant at the crime scene to identify the suspects. Tembe wrote on his Facebook page, “Upon arrival, they managed to spot the suspect described by the complainant. The suspect was apprehended and he admitted that he and his friend took the cell phone and a wedding ring.”

The suspect was searched and the ring was found in the pocket of the suspect’s jeans. The suspect was arrested and detained at Joburg Central Police Station and charged with common robbery.
