Johannesburg Flying Squad arrest suspects for different crimes

JOHANNESBURG – Members of the public are requested to report any crime incidents in their communities to the police.

 

 


Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested 16 suspects for different offences committed in various parts of Joburg over the past weekend, 11 May.

According to the squad’s spokesperson, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney, “During their routine patrol duties, they arrested two suspects for possession of unlicensed ammunition, one for theft of a motor vehicle, two for assault and another two suspects for possession of stolen goods.”

He added that the officers recovered three stolen vehicles, one hijacked vehicle, and one unlicensed firearm. The recovered vehicles were two Ford Rangers, a Toyota Etios, and a Toyota Yaris.

“They also arrested two suspects for murder, one for robbery and another one for dealing in liquor. Members also nabbed one suspect for business burglary, another one for theft and three others for dealing in drugs. Police recovered three stolen vehicles, a hijacked vehicle, and one unlicensed 9mm Taurus pistol.”

All 16 suspects, aged between 22 and 40, are expected to appear in different magistrate’s courts soon to face the charges against them.

Subramoney also urged members of the public to report crime and any suspicious persons and activities to the police.
