Sergeant Adams is proud to serve, help and protect the Parkview community

PARKVIEW – Sergeant Riccardo Adams has received a number of letters of appreciation from community members for his good service.

Sergeant Riccardo Adams believes his decision to join the police was a calling from the community in response to high levels of crime.

Adams has worked at the Parkview Police Station for 14 years serving as a Client Service Centre relief commander, registering dockets and doing administrative tasks. He also conducts patrols, stop-and-searches and attends to crime scenes.

“I enjoy helping people. Every day I feel proud to serve, help and protect those in need in the community,” said Adams.

He urges community members to work hand-in-hand with police to fight crime effectively.

“Community members already have Whats App groups to identify suspicious people or activities in their neighbourhoods. They can also come to the station to report any suspicious activities to offer additional support to us.”

Adams said that the most difficult part of his job is seeing dead bodies and scenes ordinary people don’t see every day. “This can be very emotionally challenging, but we always debrief after seeing such things and pray for divine intervention to get us through.”

Relief commander for the CSC Warrant Officer Peter Rasemane described Adams as dedicated and professional.

“I can write a book about his brilliant conduct and the manner in which he communicates with clients and makes each shift run smoothly,” said Rasemane.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “If the warrant officer is not here, Sergeant Adams works as a relief commander. He makes sure that members are posted to crime scenes and ensures that they perform their duties well. He has some good leadership qualities. When community members leave the station, they are always impressed with his work.”
