Two insourced security guards arrested for crime

HILLBROW – Two City's security guards arrested for crimes.

The police have arrested two security guards that were insourced by the City of Johannesburg.

Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba had announced the insourcing of more than 900 security guards which the two were part of.  The guards were arrested for various crimes.

Metro police spokesperson Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the guards were arrested for various crimes.

“The security guards were given letters that they will first be vetted before they could be appointed permanently,” said Minnaar.

“The one has a criminal case against him for driving a car without the owner’s permission. He’s detained at Edenvale Police Station.

“The other one was wanted for trafficking drugs in Hillbrow and has been arrested for that and is currently detained at Hillbrow Police Station.”

Minnaar said the two would appear in court and were ineligible to be City of Johannesburg employees due to their criminal records.
