Meet the alternative rock band set to captivate SA audience

JOBURG – Rise in Red signs with national PR Agency in an attempt to reach a broader audience.

Alternative rock band, Rise in Red, has signed with prestigious national PR Agency, Starburst Promotions. They join a long list of successful local talent, such as ADAM, Jo Black, Early B, Joshua na die Reën and more who are part of the Starburst family.

“We as a band decided that we needed to take a more aggressive approach to the marketing and PR of our brand. We understand that connections and relationships are key in the music industry and having been given great recommendations by other artists, we decided to approach Starburst Promotions to take care of this aspect of our business. We know they have an excellent reputation with radio stations and media outlets and we felt that this is the kind of connection we need for Rise in Red to reach the right people. We’re extremely excited and feel positive about both the partnership and the future of the band,” said lead guitarist, Jayson Reynolds.

The band was founded in 2010 by Reynolds, singer Dustin McCrindle, drummer Jaco Novella and bassist Kyle Bath. In 2018 Pierre du Toit joined the band as a session bassist.

“The name Rise in Red was established by me. We are all Christians and our inspiration for writing songs is always centred on our beliefs. That’s why we focus on bringing a message of hope. Our name appeals to listeners to stand up for their faith,” said Reynolds.

The band, which is known for their inspiring lyrics and captivating stage presence, mainly focused on song-writing and establishing a specific sound for many years. After a number of members came and went, the band developed and established its unique sound and vision and moved towards live performances during beginning 2015.  Since then, they have had many career highlights and shared the stage with big names such as Prime Circle on their Let the Night In winter tour and then again at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. The band also played alongside AKING, Dan Patlansky, Francois van Coke and other notable acts.

In 2017 they recorded and released three singles – Rhythm & Blues, Alright and Voices – and returned to the studio at the beginning of 2019 to record their debut album, which will be available soon.

“We believe that our music and our album, as a whole, provides a modern approach to rock music and it’s something that we feel South Africa needs,” Jayson added.

Starburst Promotions, who has been representing some of the biggest names in the industry for years, said it was very excited about the prospect of working with the band and has big and exciting things planned for them in the future.

“We are very excited to welcome Rise in Red. Our mission and vision has always been to introduce quality music to the public. I am always excited when we are fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work with such talented musicians. I truly believe that this band is destined for great things. We are looking forward to sharing their debut single and album with listeners soon,” said Alishia van Deventer, managing director of Starburst Promotions.
