3 May: Shef and the Kitchen Music

Kicking of Africa Month, Shef and the Kitchen Music will be performing tracks from their recently released album, The First Recipe, produced by Nigerian born, South-African-based guitarist, Kunle Ayo. Shef and the Kitchen are an Afro jazz funk band with a rich body of work featuring songs with original lyrics that combine isiZulu, Setswana and English. 4 May: Dalene Hoogenhout’s 25th anniversary

On 4 May, the Wits Choir will be celebrating Dalene Hoogenhout’s 25th anniversary in what promises to be an exciting variety music festival, featuring a great line-up of guest performers and Wits choir alumni at the Linder Auditorium. Tickets are available on www.webtickets.co.za  from R50 – R80.

4 May: Joburg Day Bottomless Beer

5 May: Victoria Yards Tour

On 5 May, the Victoria Yards Tour will explore the past and future of Victoria Yards and the historic urban fabric that surrounds it. The yards saw their prime in the 1930s and fell into decay as the suburbs spread further away. The buildings have been given new purpose in places like 44 Stanley and Maboneng, which bring creative industries into derelict industrial spaces.
