KEW– Bramley police have arrested a man for murder after missing a shot.


Bramley police have arrested a man for attempted murder in Kew.

According to the head of communication at Bramley Police Station, Captain Molefe Mogodi, it is alleged that on 16 April, the police were called to attend to the crime scene were a man reportedly shot at someone.

“Upon the police’s arrival, the victim explained that the man, who was pointed out by the victim, had fired a shot towards him but the bullet missed.

“It is also alleged that the two had an argument over the illegal connection of electricity when the gunman began threatening the victim.”

Mogodi explained that the suspect thereafter went further as to assault the victim. “The police then confiscated the licensed firearm and as Bramley police, we are warning the gun owners that they will face the full might of the law should they negligently or carelessly use or handle their firearms.”

Mogodi shared that in separate incident in Kew, a 46-year-old man was arrested for fraud. “It is alleged that the Johannesburg Metro Police officers were on duty patrolling the area when they tried to stop a vehicle as part of their routine check on vehicles.

“The driver of the vehicle allegedly drove at high speed in an attempt of getting away from the police. The officers gave chase and he was stopped in Lyndhurst.”

Mogodi stated that when the officers checked the licence disc, they found that it looked suspicious. “The driver was taken to Johannesburg Metro Police Department’ s offices in Marlboro for further investigation.”

The spokesperson stated that the police managed to pick up the irregularity on the licence disc. “It was finally found out that the suspect is using fraudulent licence disc on the vehicle. He was arrested and detained at the police station.”

Mogodi concluded that crimes reported with Bramley police and suspects arrested were of housebreaking and theft, possession of suspected stolen property and sexual assault.
