#IMadeMyMark What’s your view …

HOUGHTON – The eighteen-year-olds at Roedean School shared their excitement to vote for the first time and also their visions for the country if they were leaders.

The 18-year-old learners at Roedean School (SA) were part of #IMadeMyMark as they shared what it means to be first-time voters with Rosebank Killarney Gazette. They also revealed what they would change if they were leaders. Here’s what they had to say …

ALEXEIA NICOLAOU: I can’t wait to take my first step into society as an adult and I am excited to contribute to the democracy of the country as a voter. As a president, I would work towards making the economy financially stable in order to attract investment from other countries.

SHREEYA KHOOSAL: Being registered to vote is a way for my opinion to be acknowledged formally as a South African citizen. As president, I would address three things which are education, poverty and corruption as the three have an intertwined relationship. By educating the people we have a higher chance of eliminating poverty and corruption.

KABELO SEBOKO: I look forward to playing a role in choosing the leaders who will implement change as well as all the written manifestos and promises they made. As a president, I would be the strictest person holding all cabinet members accountable. They will need to show me all the reports and invoices on the money spent and the outcome of projects.

ISABELLA TANZER: From accompanying my parents to vote previously, I look forward to that happy atmosphere on voting day. The youth have an overwhelming majority so it is exciting for me to be part of that majority who will effect the change needed in the country when I vote. As president, I would fix the quality of life for the majority in the country.
